Meet Neil

Neil Humphreys grew up on the world’s biggest housing estate in East London. On his first day at school, he took all his clothes off and ran around the nursery. From such an inauspicious beginning, Neil went on to become one of Asia’s best-selling authors.

He has written 30 books, including humorous social commentary titles, crime thrillers, a children’s series and illustrated eco-adventures. He also writes for TV, radio and podcasts. He has won international awards for his novels, a New York Festival Television and Film Award in 2022 and a Global Sports Podcast Award in 2024.

The writer is also a media columnist, radio and TV host, podcaster and emcee. He gives talks, lectures and workshops on writing and the creative process.

More importantly, he no longer takes off his clothes in public.

Neil’s Latest Book Releases

In 2024, Neil released Awful Agatha on the Run, the first volume in the funny Awful Agatha series for children.

Lost Women

‘This impressive police procedural presents an unflattering but authentic picture of the multiracial megacity‘ Times Crime Club. Humphrey’s latest thriller is prescient, dark and challenges some of the world’s worst fears. Alan Edwards had expected to see more blood. His initial reaction had surprised him. He’d never seen a murder victim before, let alone one with its throat sliced open. And yet, Edwards remained unexpectedly calm. He shone his torch through the windscreen. The flies were already hovering outside the lorry. The maggots would soon follow.

Awful Agatha On The Run

Agatha swears she’s not awful. She’s just the toughest kid on the roughest housing estate. It’s not her fault that she’s really good at hitting people, especially those who make fun of her scruffy clothes and messy hair. Sometimes, she has to fight back. But when a classroom prank goes horribly wrong, Agatha flees the school and goes on the run. She needs help, but her family are not very helpful. Her uncle, Jimmy the Jeweller, is a thief. Her cousin George wants to be a thief and her parents just want to be left alone.
